Possibly because jumping to the end result doesn't help in the
discussion. If it would help, we would just be talking about
retiring happy, rested and rich instead of any means of achieving
it.
But I'd argue, that many companies would actually save money by
not entering into pointless marketing campaigns. All actions online
or offline, should have a business target that is then monitored
carefully.
We definitely can agree on pointless marketing campaigns. If the
problem is somewhere else (e.g. faulty business model, irrelevant
product, horrendous customer support, bad web user experience), no
amount of campaigning is going to save the business.
For example, no amount of campaigning is not going to save a
certain bank in Finland unless it fixes the flawed user experience
in its web banking.
@hlehto I think the bad
publicity from that company has culminated tho company's media
contact person Hannu Vuola, who's arrogant attitude towards the
media and customers has made people see red. He has though provided
a face for the target of customers' anger, but it has not prevented
the massive customer escape. Hopefully this is a lesson learned,
for others as well.
People are shamed to admit that they want more money. I think
this could be a part of Finnish mentality? Do not talk about money.
I've even heard business owners saying that they don't want more
revenue.

Even if it's a rather lucrative opportunity, don't strain your business card wrist too much ;)

I talked to a few colleagues at the seminar and they also argued for the "show me the money".

The real action will start when the big boys decide to focus on making money, not just marketing.

Seth Godin and the Purple Cow were among the first words uttered by the first presenter at today's seminar ;) @vilpponen wasn't there yet, though

@tulensrma: I'd venture a guess I saved on the attendance fee by not being there, then ;)
